Well, I heard from the Game & Fish Commission and it is legal to keep
sunfish in Arkansas in an aquarium. Just for info, under 4" no limit
(considered baitfish). Over 4" (gamefish) counts against the possession
limit of 100. If more are needed contact the Commission. As for
pictures, I found the source I mentioned earlier. It is
www.utexas.edu/depts/tnhc/.www.fish/tnhc/na/naindex.html This will give
a serious listing of native american fish with pictures for the majority
of species. I downloaded what they have for Dollars and am including
them as attachments. #s 2 & 3's body coloration are very representative
of what swims in the local creeks here, while the fins on #1 are typical.
 #s 1 & 3 are males with #2 being female I believe. I went down to the
Strawberry Bream hole on the creek this afternoon, but they were not
cooperating to well. (not biting) The reason I believe for the local
name of Strawberry Bream I believe to be their reddish color with
speckles and small size. Also Flathead catfish will eat them like we eat
strawberries if used for bait. Locally they are considered a baitfish as
the majority are too small for anything but "Bream Nuggets". My partner
in "creeking" as we call it are already making plans for the upcoming
season and Strawberries are figuring in at the top of the list. I'll keep
in touch and if I come up with any thing else I'll let you know.
Willy
