Robert,

I'm happy to report that the red coloring is showing up well on two of the
juvenile female H. formosa you sent. The mature females don't seem to be
showing any red, and neither do either of the juvenile males. Of course,
the fry are entirely too small to determine any coloring.

As to the melanistic Gambusia: do you think this is a natural sport of G.
affinis affinis?

And one more question - was it you who reported the finding of a colony of
melanistic H. formosa?
