Any article about wild-caught fish should emphasize special care needed as
well. Wild-caught fish should be dipped for parasites and may need to slowly
be acclimated to living in a transparent aquarium. There are a lot of
positives about using wild-caught stock to infuse needed genetic variability
into captive populations, as long as they are captured in a manner that does
not damage the wild populations as well. Removing exotic introductions from
the wild and preparing them for aquarium use is the best of all possible
worlds.
