          NORTH AMERICAN NATIVE FISHES ASSOCIATION



PURPOSES:     The     North    American    Native     Fishes
Association_NANFA_was  founded  to  bring  together   people
interested in fishes native to this continent for scientific
purposes   or   aquarium  study;  to   encourage   increased
scientific,  conservation,  and aquaristic  appreciation  of
native fishes through observation, study, and research;  and
to assemble and distribute information on native fishes.

MEMBER BENEFITS


*AMERICAN CURRENTS, a quarterly magazine featuring  articles
on  finding, collecting, keeping, observing, conserving, and
breeding  North American fishes; and news about aquaristics,
laws,    the   environment,   scientific   literature    and
developments, and other sources of information


*DARTER,  a  bi-monthly newsletter with  fast-breaking  news
about NANFA and Native Fish

*TRADING POST, a section of AMERICAN CURRENTS or DARTER  for
advertising  fish  (offered or wanted), fish  eggs,  plants,
publications_anything   related   to   native    fish    and
fishkeeping.


*REGIONAL   NANFA  CHAPTERS,  Join  others  in   your   area
collecting  discussing, and trading  Natives.  Get  involved
locally in conservation issues




*NANFA'S INFORMATION RESOURCES, including access to  indexes
of   native-fish  information.   For  example,   NANFA   has
published   the   only   readily  available,   computerized,
regularly updated list of North American fish species listed
by federal, state, and provincial governments as endangered,
threatened,  or special status; and a directory  of  native-
fish  articles that appeared in aquarium publications  1946-
1981.   NANFA's web site at www.nanfa.org, and  their  email
list !
