I would like to see an AMERICAN CURRENTS feature citing or identifying
specific NANFA members who have achieved the accomplishments Vince
references
or Regional Chapters which have achieved them, namely;

  ... stream restoration projects
... fish born and raised in home and school aquariums have been used
to
restore depleted natural polulations,
... in some cases rescuing species from extinction
... propogation techniques developed by NANFA members are currently
being
used by state fisheries departments in Tennessee, Virginia, and Oregon.

I have no doubts regarding the validy of these claims, but NANFA Members
who
may be pursuing the amendments in their states, utilizing the persuasive
text
offered by Vince are likely to be challenged for specifics.

Specifics captured in a single CURRENTS feature could be provided any
such
"doubting Thomases," etc. and a copy of CURRENTS would also illustrate
the
quality of our communication vehicle.

Perhaps Vince could readily prepare a short feature or two, since he is
aware
of the sources of the accomplishments he cites.

Robert, I can think of at least one or two states where such challenges
as I
anticipate above would likely be forthcoming.

I think the "Position Paper" is excellent, and I can see lots of uses for
it
- especially with "backup" documentation.

Thanks,

Elmer A. Guerri
