NFC: striking

Occasionally my fish strike or scratch on rocks ect. there is no visible
signs. there are no flukes ick or anything tangible to the eye. Ph is around
7.0 amonia test is clear nitrite test passes. This striking don't seem to be
a big problem, but could I be missing something.
            Anybody know why a large mouth bass would help a blue gill guard
its nest in a community tank.They're wiggle friends, unusual as it may seem
they get together.
