I'm a snake person myself--have over 20 of them--but I admit personally I 
would prefer to see the groups kept seperate.  There are numerous groups 
devoted to the preservation of herps. I'm a member of the Colorado Herp 
Society where we work on preservation, education, and captivity issues (such 
as rescue).
