Re: NFC: Native Fish Tanks???

Sounds like a good start. Small suggestions if I may:

* I would consider a 40 gallon "long" or better yet a 40 gallon "breeder".
The 55 gallon is a rather tall tank. Lighting the plants properly is no
small challenge. Getting the fish to utilize the full vertical open space
is also tough (often you'll have fish hugging the bottom half of a 55 gallon
and avoiding the top half unless you get creative with dither fish).

* The mix of fish isn't terribly compatible. Sunfishes are mostly
opportunistic. And it is amazing what they can fit in their mouths!

If you really really want sunfishes, I'd suggest Dollar Sunfishes. They
don't get all that big and they aren't all that mean either. But they will
still eat whatever they can fit in their (smaller) mouths.
