1. PALMYRA - SAVING PARADISE

In what will be one of its most important land acquisitions
to date, The Nature Conservancy is planning to purchase
Palmyra Atoll, the last intact marine wilderness in the U.S.
tropics. Located 1,000 miles south of Hawaii, the atoll
boasts acres of pristine coral reefs, emerald islands, and
turquoise lagoons. Not to mention the only nesting habitat
for migratory seabirds and shorebirds for thousands of
miles.

2. "WHERE RARITY REIGNS"

What a relief! To find a relief map that can tell you, at a
glance, where the hot spots of American biodiversity are
located. You can find just such a map in the May/June 2000
issue of Nature Conservancy magazine. And if you want an
interactive version of the same, click on:

3. NATURAL EVENTS ALMANAC

Did you know Saturday, May 13, was International
Migratory Bird Day? And that's just one of the spectacular
natural events that's going on at any given moment across
the United States and beyond. To learn more about what's
happening in your neck of the woods, link up to our Natural
Events Almanac at:

4. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Want to make a difference? Become one of the thousands

5. NATURE FACT - BLOWING ROCKS PRESERVE, FL

When the tides and sea are just right at the Conservancy's
Blowing Rocks Preserve in Florida, waves surge through
the erosion holes in limestone formations and create
sparkling natural fountains. (Not the Fountain of Youth,
exactly, but a good feeling.)
