Subject: Pygmy Sunfish

Does anyone out there have any pygmy sunfish available? My second generation colony died off (with all males it was hard to keep it going). I'm serious about breeding them and I have two 15G tanks chock full of Java moss and ready and waiting for happy pygmies. I'll gladly pay for shipping and handling charges.

On another note, I know that variations in temperature and pH can affect the sex of some cichlids. Is anyone familiar with this same issue with Elassoma? My past breeding attempts turned up a high percentage of males but I'm not sure which way to adjust temperature or pH. The tanks are running 76 - 77F and pH around 6.8.

Thanks!
Darren Gill
