NFC: Indiana fish kill: Governor calls for doubling fines

The Governor of Indiana has proposed doubling the current maximum fine of
$25,000 per incident per day for polluters. With little doubt, this is due
to all the publicity of the recent White River fish kill which basically
killed all fish in a 50 mile stretch of the river.

The opposition party immediately pointed out his administration has never
fined anyone $25,000 yet.

More laws that also won't be enforced will _not_ scare anyone in to being a
responsible citizen. Many businesses are just like teenagers: no real
monitoring, no real penalties, no compliance.
