Red worms
Do your red worms have a yellow or greenish tip? Worms of this type have a
substance in their slime that repels the fish and saves the life of the worm.
I have fed them to my fish by rinsing them back and forth between very warm
and very cold tap water. Once all dirt and slime is rinsed off, the fish
will eat them. If you store the leftover worms, they will have to be cleaned
again just before feeding. This works, but why not try a dwarf red worm
instead, or white worms. Livebearers and gouramis would be happy with the
white worms, more their size. I don't know about the gar.
