I ordered some "official" fly medium from a live food source or
biological supply place (it was a while ago and I forgot which) and the
stuff looked much like the Gerber instant baby food dry flakes that I
was feeding to white worms. You might give it a try (I haven't yet) and
see if it gives good results. I suspect it will, and will be an easy
source of cheap fruit fly medium.    JA
