I don't know that lead paints were ever present in printer's ink, but in some
old hand set types, there was lead alloy.  Printing heat, not toxins, is why
an untouched newspaper is considered nearly sterile in an emergency. Present
day papers use soy inks and computers instead of the old ways. Just as a
precaution, maybe avoid using any newspapers from before World War II.
