Re: [Live-foods] Chorine / Chloramine Treatment
Hi Gay
CloramX which is the old amquel.
I through a little pinch in my new jars.
At the live foods culture course I took in Fort Pierce Florida they
were culturing rotifers. Their water was from a sea water well with
tons of ciliates. They would bleach the solar tubes and then treat
with cloramX the remove the chlorine and protect against ammonia.
The had a similar system for moina.
The new rotifer machines that grow rotifers in densities up to 500
per ml have an algae dosing pump as well as a cloramX dosing pump.
I get mine in 5 or 10 pound pails of dry powder from http://www.reed-
mariculture.com/ and they usually have free shipping. They also have
charts with dosing so you can mix up amquel strength solutions if you
prefer liquid measurement over powder.
Best fishes
