[Live-foods] Unsuccesful worms

I have recently bought very good starter cultures of Banana, Micro, and  
Walter worms. Only one container of then is doing well. It looks like the ill  
fated ones have formed a crust-like stuff on top of the cooked oats. Can anyone  
help me with this? The one that is doing well is the Micro worms in a tall  
container w/ a loose lid. The others are short containers, with air tight lids.
