light distance for daphnia culture

My opinion is that the distance is not critical. The way the light is adjusted -- up, down, angled, or any other spatial adjustment -- that causes the best dispersal of the daphnia in the culture container is critical. I move the light around until I find the position where the daphnia are dispersed the most. If there is sunlight in the room, the artificial light will have to be brighter or closer, in order to overpower the daphnia's attraction to the one brightest spot in the container.
