green water

Adding a pleco or lake chub sucker will keep the algae from plating. Critters too small for the goldfish to eat, like rotifers, may eventually wipe out the culture, so keep dividing it. If you are going to feed daphnia rather than moina, you would be better served to get a known starter culture from a biological supply house. Algae that have defenses against being eaten (taste, toxicity) have a way of taking over a green water culture. Moina are supposed to handle them, but daphnia succumb.
