  They're pretty easy to keep alive.  I used to keep them in a small
aquarium with nylon over top (the babies can crawl through pretty much
anything else).  Just make sure they have enough water.  I used a
candle holder with some cotton in it so they wouldn't drown.  Feed them
potato, apple, whatever, try too keep the pieces small so they can eat
before it goes bad.
