Re: North American Killies
Thank you all for your speedy and helpful assistance. A guy who gave me my
first killies (and only killies for now, heh heh) will try to collect some
more golden topminnows for me, and I asked if he could collect some pygmy
killifish, too. Now to those of you currently keeping the Goldens and/or
the pygmies: Could you please describe their keeping conditions? I'm not
necessarily trying to breed them (but if they're annual-like, then I damn
sure will), but I'm actually going for the Amano/biotope look. That is, a
natural looking environment in which, possibly/hopefully, the fish will be
comfortable enough in to breed. And trust me (many of you probably know
this already), w/ enough driftwood and java moss, you can EASILY hide a
sponge filter or whatever filtration device, if you use them, in a killie
tank, so I don't think I'll be sacrificing basic needs for aesthetics.
Anyway, I'd also like to know about their breeding habits, types of food
taken (flake, frozen, live), and, if possible, temps and pH usually kept at.
Thanks again, folks.
Jon
