North American killies
Hello all, I happened to receive the National Audubon Society Filed Guide to
North American Fishes, Whales & Dolphins for Christmas and flipped to their
killie section. There's quite a lot of killies in the US, it seems. One
particularly attractive one is the Golden Topminnow. In any case, it's
obvious that they're not as colorful as their SA and African cousins, but
are they still collected by aquarists? If not, why not? Is it b/c some are
endangered, like the Devil's Hole Pupfish, or is it just b/c no one wants
them? Or are they just too hard to keep? I wouldn't mind having a few
Pymgy Killifish to go w/ my Heterandria formosa that I'll be getting
soon...Anyway, I'd really like it if some of you could point me towards some
folks who know more about our native killie populations and their keeping
conditions, etc. Thanks in advance for any help.
