I have used frozen bloodwowrms for some time. I too have experienced burning eyes which may be because of the bloodworms.

Doubtlessly, they are nutritious and accepted by most killies. I thaw the worms in warm (not hot) water, rinse and then feed. A distinct smell, which reminds me of some type of solvent, appears during thawing. Is there a preservative or something added to the worms before freezing? Have not noticed anything as pronounced with frozen brine shrimp, although it too has a distinctive odor.
