Unglazed ceramic will eventually become water logged and sink, ceramic like
this is porous, but the pores are extremely small so it would take a while.
If it was a ramekin then it was glazed, otherwise it would soak up whatever
food was kept in it and be ruined. The most likely scenario IMHO is that it
was chipped or scratched enough that it slowly soaked up water until it sank.
Even a hairline crack could let water in and sink after a period of time. Unless
you had something bigger than any killie Ive seen I doubt it was "bumped" hard
enough to tip it.
