The one problem with any foam filter that sits on the bottom, is that fry
can potentially be trapped under them. I have ten, two gallon aquariums,
which I use to start fry out in. They are filtered by Lee's double action
foam filters(Basically a foam disc that sits on the bottom). I set these
ten tanks up earlier this year and found that too many fry were being
trapped under the filters. I solved this problem by suspending the filters
off the bottom by a half inch or so. In my case this was easy, as each of
these tanks has a glass top with a 1/4 inch hole trilled in it to allow the
airline to pass through. Other members of my affiliate simply place a
marble or stone under the filter to keep it from sitting flat on the bottom.
