Tank Filters

Hi All,

Got to agree with Guy Wren. I use plastic box filters in most of
my tanks. (I sure miss the corner filters once manufactured by
Lustar.) Size depends upon tank. Unfortunately, it's hard to
always find them here in New Mexico. (Last ones I purchased in
Alququerque were from a Germany manufacturer.) I use NO filter
fluff and NO cover - just about an inch (4 cms to the foreign
majority - heh heh!!) of aquarium gravel. Rarely a hastle with
airflow. When they get real dirty I just dump the contents into
a quart (liter) plastic container and hand-swirl/rinse well with
COOL water. Decanting off the water until it runs clean. This
keeps from destroying the good bacteria attached to the gravel.
Then back into the tank. No fear of losing fry, etc.

Tanks,
