On these memberships, have you taken in to consideration cost increases?
No increased costs we included in the financial model for say postage and paper goods.

I would happily pay that just to avoid the hassle of remembering to renew
every year. I don't really want to buy life memberships, but a longer term
membership sounds great.

On page 3 of the October BNL, about a quarter of the way down the page, you
will find "The 5 for 4 Membership Proposal. This prop, if adopted, would
sell 5 year memberships ($120.00 value) for the price of 4 ($96.00) if the
member pays up front. The idea was drafted by a member of the membership
committee with the hopes that offering this deal would help retain members
longer. The original draft included a financial model that suggested that
if the $96.00 were invested at 6% over the five year life of the
membership, the compounded interest plus the $96.00 (the total return)
would be slightly greater than the current $24.00 per year if the $24.00
were not invested at all. Please comment to the list on whether you think
the proposal has merit and also if you think you would part with $96.00 for
a 5 year membership.
