I applaud the person came up with this idea for having the initiative and I
hope the BOT approves it. I am a life member of the AKA so I don't pay
membership on a year by year basis; however, in theory, I would certainly be
willing to pay the $96 up front for a 5-year membership. This, as well as
the online credit card-based subscription system that the AKA has
introduced, represents an enormous benefit for foreign members who may have
to pay by international money orders for which the banks charge substantial
commissions. I also have memberships in the BKA, the DKG and the KFN, and I
wish they had multi-year subscription deals (even if it did not involve a
discount), or an online credit card membership renewal system. For example,
in my case the commission on money orders adds about 20% to each membership
and, in the case of one foreign association I have to add a further 30% of
the subscription rate for bank processing at the other end.
