Hi, Dennis,
I'm here in Bryan/College Station. I just moved here from Houston, so I
don't know how far it is to Dallas (I just know it's closer to here than
Houston from Dallas.) Austin is 1.5 hours away & Houston is 2 hours away
from me. I have Fundulopanchax gardneri Lafia & A. australe chocolate fry,
but they're only about 1/2" long at the moment. I have a couple of other
killie species (SJO & AUS gold & Jordanella floridae) but have them in
group tanks not really set up for spawning because I just got some Betta
bellica & am working on getting them to spawn (I'm also a student & have
limited time & $$.)
Anyway, just wanted to jump in & say there *is* someone not terribly far
from Dallas on the list. =) I'm planning on driving the 1.5 hours to Austin
on Saturday to go to a Betta meeting. The next TAKO meeting in Houston is
Tuesday, Oct 12th at 7:30 pm. I have an 8 am chemistry lab on Wednesday
mornings, so that one's right out for me, but I have met some of the
members of the TAKO group at their annual show & auction this summer
(including Michelle <waves>), and they're some really nice people. If
you're free during the week, it's an awfully long drive to Houston from
Dallas, but it might be worth it if you let them know in advance that
you're coming. People in that group breed different things, & you might be
able to pick up some nice specimens, as well as make some new friends.
