Lokoja is the capital of the state of Kogi in Nigeria and is located at the confluence of the
Nigeri and Benue Rivers. Where did the current GAR Lokojas come from? Don't know. However, if
you look at

you will see a number of GAR Lokoja pictures and one could question if they are of the same
population if you count spots. Some of the pix are from Richard Cox - whose brother, I believe,
collected the original GAR Lokoja.

This has been a perplexing population for me. Two years ago, I was getting a large number of
fish with bent spines. I have changed nothing, and now haven't seen a bent spine in the past
year. I've tried varying everything that supposedly causes bent spine;diet, temperature and
light. Nothing has caused bent spines. Of course it could be some combination of factors but I
haven't had the drive to carry this any further.
