Re: AKA Membership
Hello from the UK.
My few cents worth ...
Personally, I see no reason to join the
AKA.
I am a member of the BKA and attend the BKA
convention (I was there last weekend) and as many fish shows/auctions around the
NorthWest as I can.
I joined this list ages ago and have been a member
of it under several different e-mail addresses.
I have found the topics of conversation very
interesting and relevant (usually) to the killifish hobby and to the species I
keep especially (e.g.. SJO).
Someone else has stated the reason for not joining
as the $24 fee - I would also site this as one of mine. What would I get
for the $24 that I don't already ? OK, so if the egg lists became
accessible to AKA members only, I would lose access to that, but as I have not
had any success with eggs I have imported from the USA, I can't get too worked
up over that.
I am quite content being able to monitor this list
and to ask any questions I might have in the knowledge that there is someone out
there who may just have the answer.
I do however, frequently refer to the AKA web pages and I would have to say it would be a great
shame were they to be made unavailable to nonAKA members.
So now we've got the membership/non-membership
issue out the way, can we get back to matters killi ....
Regards,
Andy Bassett

Subject: AKA Membership
With all this talk about membership vs.
non-membership, let me ask the nonmembers what is your reasons for not wanting
to join the AKA?
