Chris,
this is how I see your predicament...

why do we keep killies- I keep them to look at- not to make cash 
selling them, or to impress my mates by winning shows (this would not 
impress my mates anyway- quite the opposite) If you like them keep them!
At the end of the day, none of our fish will be re-released, the only 
point of having codes is to stop us crossing them (and maybe help us 
find more the same). If you're fish are still fertile in a few 
generations then good- maybe drop the code if you're not sure.
