New? Rare?

Apparently I wasn't the only one a bit concerned about the latest N&R
listing in the BNL. Some (a majority?) appeared to be either not "new" or
not "rare." Some were neither.

IMHO, the overall usefulness of N&R is degraded by such listings. I used to
follow them to keep track of new fish coming into the hobby. Obviously it
does not serve even that purpose as currently organized.

Perhaps it is appropriate for the BOT to publicize the standards for this
service, and let us know how it is run.

How are the fish selected? How are the prices determined? What is the
recourse if the fish arrive sick or dead? Who actually ships the fish
(assuming they aren't double shipped). Where does one get keeping and
breeding info on truly new, rare fish? The list could go on...

My impression is that this is a most difficult and technically challenging
service to run. Wouldn't it be helpful to the Chairperson, and to the
members, if we all were on the same page and knew what the standards and
procedures are?

TIA
