Re: Petri Dishes - Where to purchase?
To follow up on Debbie's suggestion about hobby, toy and science places, one
of Bill Vannerson's favorite haunts is American Science and Surplus. They
have three Chicagoland locations and seem to be expanding to other areas.
They have serious and really goofy things for sale. Their catalogue is just
fun to read. It can be found at www.sciplus.com and several items of use to
killinuts can be found there. They do ship.
CKAers have picked up switches for automatically feeding and water changing,
meshes for seives, and all sorts of other laboratory and electrical things
for use around the fish room. A couple of weeks ago we stopped by and picked
up a beaker by Corning, several plastic specimen jars to sell killie eggs
in, some nerf balls and a rubber chicken. There have got
other surplus stores of this type just loaded with such essential items.
Oh yeah, if you or a friend works at a college or high school, Petri dishes
can often be purchased through the bookstore or science department. But the
surplus places are so much more fun.
All the best!
