I have had "difficult" specimens of any of several "easy" species of
Aphyosemions. Sometimes it is the particular pair you are working with,
perhaps due to poor genetics (perhaps someone in the past mixed different
populations or strains of supposedly the same species). Perhaps it is due to
just the individual fish, other times it is due to the age of the fish. These
variabilities are true of any genus of killifish -- probably true of any
fish. If they are easy to breed --rejoice, if they won't breed -- replace
them. This is why it is much better than twice as desirable to get two pairs
of any new species. The chance of getting a good breeding pair is greatly
improved, unless you get them from someone who has already been breeding them
with demonstrated success.
	One more axiom, the more colorful the fish, the less reproductive;
the drabber the fish the more reproductive. How many drab, brown Rivulus do I
have, and how many colorful Rivulus xiphidius do I have? Guess.
