Re: RO units
I bought a 28 gal a day unit with millipore and carbon filters (paid $189)
and I like the size since it can fill a 32 gal plastic garbage can in a day
(Turn it on at night and the next evening you got a canfull). If you go
bigger, you need to shut it off after 12 hours(when you aren't home) or
setup a 50 gal holding tank, or 2 garbage cans. I just throw in a
tablespoon of RO Right , a handfull of aquarium salt, turn it on and the
next day use a small pond pump on a hose to send the water to the desired
tanks. I don't use 28 gal more than twice a week but I use the entire can
before refilling. The usage of water to flush the membrane is usually set
around 6 to 8 waste to 1 part RO water. This is necessary based on the
mineral content of your water but is factory preset for typical medium
hardness water(about 7-8 waste to 1 good) . If you get RO I don't know why
you would go further to deionize when you just have to re add minerals
anyway before use. The RO should take out all of the "big" molecules of
evil stuff and the DI would only be used sfor disolved salts anyway.
