No, not unusually, but many Aphyosemions will lay lots of eggs when first
combined. I recently had over 100 eggs in one day from a couple pairs of
Aphyosemion labarrei, that had been raised separately and then combined It
doesn't seem to work with the various Diapteron species nor with Aphyosemion
elberti. Fundulopanchax (or Aphyosemion, as you wish) gardneri Nsukka or
Akure also will lay many, many eggs after being separated for a while. Most
breeders specializing in quantity rely on this technique to get large age
concentrations of a species.
