That isn't enough, some times. I bought some (really bad) used tanks, and
had to get a product called "CLR" to get enough acid effect. [I got it at
Long's, but may be at many hdwre. stores, too.] It's not quite as aggressive
as pool acid, but be careful, anyway. It will burn you and ruin your patio
cement. Heavy encrustations can be attacked with a razor-blade scraper,
after some softening in the acid.
I also have another used tank that I couldn't ever get really clear. It had
been used as a reef tank, and the high pH apparently etched right into the
inside of the glass, so it was frosty *below* the main waterline. When full,
it doesn't show much, but algae can be really hard to remove in the worst
areas.
