Mosquito larvae
Hi all,
Looks like the start of a bumper year for mosquito egg rafts. Before I
release-once again-a million mosquitos into the region, I thought I would
pose some questions to the group. Has anyone actually frozen and
re-hatched these egg rafts? I know most everyone either knows somebody
who did, or has heard about somebody who did. I would like to hear from
someone who did it themselves. I am particularly interested in whether or
not the 'summer' rafts show any differences from the late season or
'fall' rafts. Also, will the extent of developement play a part. In other
words, does the raft have to be newly deposited or will an older raft,
where the pupae may be in some stage of developement, take to freezing
without problems. How long has anyone held frozen rafts and still had
successful hatches.
