Bob, 
I'd suggest you visit some killie sites to narrow your search - what
group of killies do you like? Aphyosemion, Nothobranchius, Epiplatys,
Cynolebias, lampeyes, etc all have their keepers. Then post a more
specific message including info on where you are and you'll probably get
