Dear Bobo, The rainforest is quite dark but gardneri in the aquarium can get 
used to almost any light level.  If I could adjust the light level, I would 
opt for the low side. As far as plants go I only use two species, Java fern 
and Java moss. Both plants do well under low light conditions. Java moss is 
also quite good for providing substrate in which a lot of micro 
invertebrates, like rotifers, live. These provide food for small newly 
hatched fry. Java fern has nice large bright green leaves even when grown 
under low light conditions. The roots of the Java fern are also where a lot 
of killies will lay their eggs.  See you later, Nevin
