Jim One method I've never tried (never had the problem) but apparently works is to connect two wires, one to each terminal of a small 9V battery and then dip the other two ends in the tank. Apparently the mild electrical charge causes the hydra to fire their 'stingers' and then die. This shouldn't affect the fish, but I would remove them just in case. Matt Talbot
