Re: Killie Notes and JAKA
The evolution our publications has been very interesting, George. Initially,
JAKA was almost solely scientific and dealt with nomenclature (which was
changing and is a state of flux in the early years -- it still is changing
rapidly, but not like the early years) and classification whereas Killie Notes
was hobbyist oriented with many "how to" articles. After a time, JAKA would be
only five or six pages whereas Killie Notes would be twenty or more. In time,
they were combined into both and, finally, JAKA only was on the journal. The
repetition of numbers for a time was very confusing when one tried to retrieve
an article, but fortunately George Slusarczuk (and other editors) stuck to one
single sequence so our journal has been numbered sequentially and full of good
articles for a long time. Hopefully, JAKA will continue "forever."
