6 months is too long for Whitei. Check the peat after 2 1/2 or 3 months.
They should be
eye-ing up by then. Keep the eggs in a warmer location (75 is ideal) such as
in a cabinet above the refrigerator. Eggs of South American species are
sometimes difficult to see in
peat, they are certainly more amber in color than Nothobranchius. You can
find them if
you look carefully.
I use ziploc bags all the time and don't see the problems that Wright
reported. You might
consider double wrapping your bags (that is, store all your individual bags in
a larger bag).
