Ted now has gone to mostly plastic shirt box type containers for ease in
carrying and emptying for water changes. However, if you want to look at fish
the best tanks are all glass without corner frames. If you make the bottom of
1/4 inch plate glass and the rest from double thick window glass they last
forever ( well, 25 years and still going, anyway). the cost of the glass and
silicone however makes it not competitive with purchased tanks unless you get
the glass for free. I wonder whether you could get scraps of auto glass from a
window repair shop for free. You may have to learn to cut it yourself. It
would make good bases for small tanks.
