Re: Nothos - How much salt? -Addendum
I forgot one of the most important reasons for adding some small amount of
salt to all killifish waters, i.e., newly hatched brine shrimp will not die
and pollute the water, so you can feed more than the fish can eat immediately!
At the concentration I use (1 Tablespoonful salt per 5 gallons water), newly
hatched brine shrimp will live in the tank until eaten for more than 24 hours.
This is very important to me because it allows me to feed fry once a day and
that is all I have time to do. This doesn't mean that you can grossly
overfeed, the brine shrimp will die from overcrowding along with the fish.
