Does make you wonder about all the effort of feeding, water changes etc which
don't seem to be needed. Perhaps we feed too much and therefore the need for
wextra water changes. The fish are more slender after a 3 week "vacation" from
the meddling aquarist, but like us they probably are better off for it. I
think the longer term effects on growth rates may be what we are hoping to
achieve by daily feeding and therefore the weekly water changes. "Benign
neglect" should be our resolution for the New Year. A compromise between force
feeding and total fasting is probably the best. Miss a day feeding every once
in a while and also always have some Java moss, algae and lettuce leaves
available for browsing.
