Re Killie Talk Digest V2 #557
In answer to Bill Edward's Rivulus jumping
query, Bill probably has not kept Rivulus species before.
All Killies are excellent
jumpers, Rivulus are probably the best, in the wild and in tanks,
Rivulus
often jump out of the water onto leaves, stones, branches and
even stick to the covers or glass
of their tanks. The main reason for this is, stress I.E.:- to
much chasing from ardent males, sometimes
just for a rest and some even lay eggs out of the water on
leaves or the floats of mops where the eggs
will still get some moisture, this ensures that the eggs are
not eaten by other Rivulus or other fish.
This is known as eggs stranding, I hope this will help to
clear up Bills mystery.
