This reply is prompting me to ask a basic question regarding jumping. I
have read on the lists that many consider Rivulus' leaping ability and their
apparent ease at which they spend time out of water or in damp
conditions, such as under leaves in the rainforest, to be an adaptation
for survival. Given that the conditions in their natural habitat make such
an assumption easy to follow and believe, I accepted it is truth.

However, I'd like to know if anyone has done any behavioral field
observations in order to prove this theory? Does anyone recall of such
an effort?
