Jumping through lids

Duct tape is wonderful stuff -- for fixing holes in pants pockets, renewing
window screens, and getting the rabbit ears to hang in just the right position
-- but on a tank lid??!! Not being critical. I used it too, 'til something
better came along. I set a piece of plastic kitchen wrap loosely over the
tank, set the lid and run in any airline, heaters, etc. with a little extra
wrap around the part of a heater, or lift tube where it exits the lid. Then I
smear silicone aquarium sealant in all the holes, lifting the lid a little to
get some just underneath. When everything cures (overnight), then I peel off
all the kitchen wrap, and I have a perfectly sealed lid for that particular
size and brand of tank. Might as well glue on some kind of handle on the lid
while all the goop is around. I like shells for handles, but you can pick
whatever you like.
