     Hello Nancy Ann and welcome,

     Try moving your tank into a location where it will get a few hours of
     direct sunlight which should help speed up the algae growth. Be
     forewarned that once it starts growing it can be a job to control
     especially when it grows on the leaves of some plants. I have found
     that algae tends to grow more aggressively after a tank has been
     established for a few months.
